A Mother’s Story – One mom helping other heal a family

The spouse of an Active-Duty service member called Vets4Warriors. Her main concern was one of her sons was beginning to exhibit new behaviors and lashing out in anger.  She blamed herself for her son’s behavior as she expresses her anger in front of her children. The peer supported her and referred her to the local Cohen Veterans Network clinic for therapy for her child and possibly family therapy.

The peer provided a follow up and the spouse said she was on a waiting list for the Cohens Veterans Network and had done resiliency training with another organization. The peer provided her with another referral to the National Military Family Association support program as well as the UCLA Veteran Family Wellbeing Center for additional skills training. The spouse was happy with the support and resources provided by the peer. The peer was able to connect with her as a mother dealing with a child going through a difficult period and the spouse appreciated the information given by the peer.
